LIFTING ME UP BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO IMPORTANT TO BE LIVING IT DOWN

A little more than a year ago, my beloved Abuelita Antonia (grandma) from my mother’s side passed away. She was in her mid-80′s. As you can see, I was named after her. Actually my middle name comes from my other grandma as well.

Anyway, my grandpa, Abuelito Fabio, passed away when I was about 6. About 28 years ago. My Abuelita never got over her love for him. She always referred to him as her “amor,” her “novio” (boyfriend), and her “corazon” (heart.) She always remembered him very fondly and lovingly.

The few days before she passed she spoke of dreams and visions of seeing him again soon. She said she wanted a microphone for Valentine’s Day so she could sing with her beloved Fabio again, like they used to when they when they were young kids in love. She couldn’t wait to see him again.

We were very saddened by her passing. However, it was her passing that helped snapped me out of my deep misery and get me to realize I had so much to live for. She had such a full and wonderful life. They had 10 children – TEN! I can’t even count how many grandchildren. Most of the clan is in Costa Rica still but quite a few of us are in the United States. We all adored this woman we loving referred to as la “Muchachita guapa” – Handsome young lady. She had more spunk and energy in her than anyone I knew. Whatever party she went to, she was the first on the dance floor, even before the kids. She could reggaeton (like a lady) with the best of them. She could sing and clap and smile all day. She was a volunteer at a hospital till right before she passed. This amazing lady was my inspiration for this blog.

And their true love reminds that love is forever. Love is kind. Love is not mean. Love is gentle, true and always, always, always patient.

Happy Valentine’s Day my beautiful friends. May the light of love and tranquility always rain upon you.

XOXO
